Hugs are Fun Around the Interwebs

So remember the flash cards I made for the &stitches contest? I won! You can read more about it on their site, and you can see all the entries here. The flash cards were also a featured project on Craftster last week! I am so excited to see that other people like these as much as I do! I really want to start some more but I am currently in the throngs of Christmas projects! My little flower cross stitched button was featured in the Mid-Week Break over on button-button. My work has been included in some of Julie's galleries and it's always a huge honor, and I ... Read More

A Possible Quilt?

So I keep mentioning my desire to make a quilt. I've never made one before but I am obsessed with looking at quilts on Pinterest and Instagram, and I got Quilting Happiness for my birthday and I'm currently reading a review copy of Modern One-Block Quilts. I think part of my fascination with quilts is that they remind me of large scale cross stitches. A lot of the different quilt squares could easily translate to cross stitches, and some of my geometric cross stitches could be made into a quilt. Well, I pulled out a box of sewing things the other day and came across ... Read More

A Little Flowered Button

I first got the idea of making these buttons from Sarah Fordham of Magasin. I've since seen some other cross Stitchers who make them, but I hadn't even realized such a thing existed. After some quick googling I found that Joann Fabrics sold a kit to make them for just a few dollars. They had a ton of different sizes but I went with the 1 1/8". I've had these for months and the other night I decided to finally make one. I knew it wouldn't take long, I was able to finish this up during an episode of Walking Dead. I used a flower motif from one of the patterns in the ... Read More

H is for Hubble

I didn't finish this one in time for the contest, but here's another one done! I was working on it at 11pm on Sunday night and the deadline was 6am Monday morning. I knew it just wasn't happening and went to bed. I wasn't too disappointed, I managed to finish 3 others, and while I like the Hubble, the Galaxy one is definitely my favorite. I'm still planning on finishing the whole alphabet but I'm going to put it on the back burner for a bit. I have some WIP I want to finish and a list of Christmas projects I need to start tackling. I will definitely come back to ... Read More

G is for Galaxy

Here is my third completed cross stitch flash card for the &stitches back to school contest. I have been working on a list of words to make a complete alphabet, I am really loving making these and want to have a whole set! Josh has been making these patterns and he's doing such an awesome job, I love them. I think this one is my favorite, but I do love the first two a lot. I started a fourth one that I should have finished by the deadline Monday, so stay tuned. ... Read More

Works in Progress

Last night Josh and I went and saw Hugh Laurie in Chicago. He was fantastic live and the musicians in the Copper Bottom Band were incredible. I haven't actually completed any projects in the past few days, so here is my current list of things I'm working on (and a few things I plan on starting soon!) First up is my iPhone case, I'm really excited about this one. Josh got me one years ago and I could never decide what I wanted to stitch so I didn't ever do it, and now it won't fit on my current phone. I was determined to avoid doing that again so I made a decision ... Read More

Flash Cards!

There is a back to school flash card contest going on over at &stitches. I really wanted to enter and make flash cards for both girls to add to their ever growing monogram collection. I've had so many other projects I needed to finish first that I only got around to starting these recently. I'm furiously stitching away at an attempt to finish a third flash card before the deadline tomorrow, we'll see what happens with that. But here are the two I have finished. I knew I wanted to do a science theme and immediately started brainstorming options. I almost did E ... Read More
