Every year I set the goal that I will finish more of my WIPs (works in progress) yet I still have an ever growing pile. This year I'm going to get really serious because it's getting out of control. This year I'm going to Save the UFOs (unfinished objects). Last year I posted about knowing when to call it quits on a project and I abandoned a blanket that's been in my pile for years. I feel like everything that's left in my UFO pile are all things I really want to finish, I just have gotten distracted by other things. Mollie at Wild Olive posted this week ... Read More
Long Forgotten WIP – Embroidered Map
I think this might have been the first embroidery project I've ever done. I started it maybe 2 or 3 years ago, I'm not even sure when it was. I remember why I put it aside though. I started getting to the small states on the east coast and they were getting a lot harder to do with this stitch outline and I got frustrated. I can't decide if I should just finish it or if I should start over in a different style. I would like to have a stitched map! Have you recently rescued any long forgotten projects? ... Read More
WIP Wednesday – 30 for 30 Progress
I am absolutely loving this 30 for 30 crafting challenge! I have so many projects I lost interest in working on that I do really want to finish, but I have a hard time choosing them over the more exciting current projects I'm working on. But 30 minutes is such a short amount of time, I can easily set aside a half hour to work on one of these poor neglected projects. I laid out a list of the projects I planned to resurrect and I've been making good progress! The French knot color wheel is my new focus. I really want to get it done so I have been working on it the ... Read More
30 for 30 Crafting
I craft for way more than 30 minutes a day, but I still feel like this #30for30crafting challenge that Jess from The Crafting Geek set up will be extremely beneficial for me. When talking about my creative process I mentioned losing momentum on projects and leaving them unfinished. This happens way more than I wish it did, so I'm going to use this challenge as an opportune to revive some of them. For at least 30 minutes a day I will set aside my current project and pick up one of these almost finished WIP. Evie's blanket I finished all the squares for this months ... Read More
WIP Wednesday – Hexagon Update
I haven't been working on them as much, but I'm still slowly making hexagons for my quilt. I am up to 1594 now, so I'm getting there! Although I was debating going even bigger and making it a queen size instead of twin. It would require about 1,000 extra hexagons than I originally planned, which sounds daunting, but I figure if I'm going to do it I might as well go all in! And really, if I'm already making 2363, is 3284 really that many more? I was originally going to wait until the end to start joining but I think I'm going to start soon. I'm really excited to see ... WIP Wednesday – French Knots and Doodle Stitching
I think my French knot obsession started when I saw Julie from Got the Button's sampler. I love the look of all of those knots clumped together, it creates such a great texture. I've wanted to make my own for awhile, but was intimidated about doing anything too big because I thought it would take forever. The other night I got the idea to use one of my tiny 3" hoops and it's going pretty quickly. I am making a color wheel and I'm really excited to finish it. It's going really quickly. When my thread runs out, instead of finishing a section I start another color. I get ... Read More
Doodle Embroidery
Someone needs to save me from myself. Just yesterday I posted about all my current projects, then what do I do? Last night I started yet another one! I saw this pillow at IKEA and immediately thought it looked like a coloring book and I wanted to stitch on it. This is going to take awhile, but I find it very relaxing. I'm not obsessing over colors or perfection, I'm just filling it in with various stitches. So far I've done back stitch, split stitch, French knots, scallop stitch, and satin stitch. I'm going to use this as an opportunity to try out different ... Read More
WIP Wednesday – Hexagons, Embroidery, and Plastic Canvas
I'm working on a lot of different projects right now and I can't wait to finish them up. In the world of hexagons, I am working on the Wild Olive spring stitching club. I have last week and this week's to do still and I'm a little behind on the hexagons. But I love the colors and the patterns that Mollie has sent out so far! I loved the size of the hexagons for the stitching club, so I decided to make a table runner. I'm really close to finishing, I just have one more row to attach. I think I might finish it with a felt backing but I'm not sure yet. I'm ... Read More
