My mother in law loves New York City, so last year I decided to make her a cross stitch of the Statue of Liberty for Christmas. I chose colors that were very similar and while I loved how it looked, I hated working on it and wasn't going to finish in time for Christmas. So I switched to a different gift idea and put it aside for a year. I revived the project and finished it for this Christmas. I ended up winging it because I had miscounted quite a few areas of the pattern. I'm really happy with how it turned out, I like it a lot. I also made another New York ... Read More
Free Pattern Friday – Make Something Every Day!
This month's first Friday really snuck up on me! Suddenly it's a new year and I need to make a pattern within the next day! But I have one for you, and I hope it'll be a good motivation for you this year! I set a lot of goals in regards to what I plan on creating this year, but really none of that is really important. It doesn't matter if I finish 20 cross stitches or 2. All that really matters is that I'm taking the time every day to make something, anything. The finished piece will fit in a 6" hoop when done on 14ct Aida. Download the PDF here - Free Pattern ... Read More
Embroidery Floss Ornaments
I have two big mason jars full of embroidery thread, this is the one from last year and I'm keeping one this year as well. I was doing monthly posts about my ORT jars but that kind of fell by the wayside, though I am still filling mine up. I've been wanting to do something with the threads so I've been keeping these jars around. I got some fillable plastic ornaments from Michael's. There are also glass ones available and I actually think they might be cheaper, but Mira tends to take ornaments off the tree so I wanted to stick with plastic. You can get them on ... Read More

StitchyBox – A Cross Stitch Subscription Box!
Subscription boxes have really taken off, there are boxes for everything now! And there's a new subscription box starting in January and I am extremely excited about it! Abby from While She Naps pointed me in the direction of StitchyBox, a cross stitch subscription box. I was immediately intrigued, and when I found out that Liz from Dragonflylotus Designs Handspun Thread was behind it, I was even more excited. Liz isn't new to the monthly club scene, she currently has a thread of the month club available. But StitchyBox is so much more. The website boasts the boxes ... Read More
Internet Friend Birthday Gifts!
I really love the internet, one reason is because I have met some amazing people online. Jess from CraftingGeek sent me a birthday gift, she made me this awesome Yoshi cross stitch using water soluble canvas. She also sent me some fabric scraps for my hexagon quilt and some DMC color infusions threads. Seriously, how awesome is that? Well Jess's birthday was shortly after mine and I just sent her a very, very late birthday gift. I think I found Jess on Instagram because of her progress on the Legend of Zelda Dark World map cross stitch, and it only seemed ... Read More
Free Pattern Friday – New York City Skyline
I created this pattern for a Christmas gift so I can't show off what I did with it yet. However, it worked out really well and I thought some of you might have use for a NYC skyline cross stitch pattern. It's very simple and you could customize it and use any colors you'd like. You also don't need to stitch the entire space, I just did the outline and it worked out really well! The finished piece is less than 9" wide and 4" tall when done on 14ct Aida. Happy Unicorn Swap – What I Sent
My Happy Unicorn Swap partner got her package yesterday, so I can finally show it all off! I got my swap package earlier this week, and I was so excited to send this to my partner. I always love sending embroidery floss for swaps, I have such a fun time picking out a color pallet. For this one, a rainbow just seemed necessary because you really can't have unicorns without rainbows! I wracked my brain for what to send as the "unicorn item." The coordinator suggested sending something that was unique to your state or region and I just couldn't pick ... Read More
