Felt Valentine Necklace

One of my 2014 goals was to try new crafts. Needle felting was high on that list of ones to try. I got a needle felting kit for Christmas two years ago and I was just so nervous to try it out. I am not the most graceful person and I get hurt a lot. I've been to the ER because of an Xacto knife before, so the idea of me stabbing things with needles seemed like a bad idea. I finally got over my fear and gave it a whirl this past weekend and I loved it, it's so amazing to me to take some wool roving and a needle and end up with a solid object. I needle felted the ... Try it Tuesday – Felt Hexagon Coaster

It's time for another Try it Tuesday! Try It Tuesday was started by the ladies at Trends with Benefits as a way to get crafty bloggers to try out different tutorials. Stitched Blooms Stitchalong

This bird motif is from Carina's book Stitched Blooms. I haven't picked up a copy yet so when I saw her blog post about a stitchalong with the chance to win a copy, I knew I needed to do it! However, now that I see it finished, I feel like maybe I should frame it or display it some way that I can be out year round instead of just at Christmas. I'm really happy with the colors and how they work together, I was a little concerned but I like it. I've always been drawn to cross stitch over ... Read More

Totoro Hoop!

I had so much fun making the Pigeon hoop that I wanted to make another! It's my first time participating in the Illustration Stitch A Long. For Pigeon the embroidery is only to attach the felt, but for this Totoro hoop I used it to add some additional detail for the mouth and whiskers. I really love doing these hoops and want to keep experimenting with using more embroidery details. ... Read More
