TUSAL, Part 7
In this month's totally useless stitch a long, we have a new addition, a yarn ORT jar. I've been working on Evie's blanket a lot, as well as playing around with another crochet endeavor I'll show off soon. This has left me with enough yarn to start it's own jar. See all the past updates here. ... Read More
Yarn Cutter Strap
I bought this neat little yarn/thread cutter months ago and always planned on adding some sort of strap to it so it was a little easier to tote around. I finally did it and it went super quick and made me wonder why I waited so long! I used the idea behind this leather bracelet but used some black silk cord I had instead. I grabbed a few colors of embroidery floss and got to work. The only beads I had that were big enough were Evie's plastic pony beads, so I picked a glittery purple one. It's not perfect, but It probably took me about 10 minutes and I already had all ... For Pigeon the embroidery is only to attach the felt, but for this Totoro hoop I used it to add some additional detail for the mouth and whiskers. I really love doing these hoops and want to keep experimenting with using more embroidery details. ... Read More
Experimental Cross Stitching – Paper
So my obsession with cross stitching on different surfaces continues, this time with watercolor paper. I got the idea from the amazing Olisa Corcoran, who was actually the one who wrote the Mr. X Stitch post that featured my periodic table cross stitch. She has done some incredible embroideries on brightly saturated watercolor paintings and she inspired me to try some cross stitching. I was just working with some of Evie's Crayola watercolors and didn't get the same vibrancy as Olisa's pieces, but I think it turned out cute. The paper is a lot easier to punch holes in ... Birthday Present Fun!
I got some pretty awesome stuff for my birthday this year and I wanted to show it off. I have a hard time thinking of things I want, I can always think of a dozen things to get the girls though. I was able to come up with one thing to tell Josh I wanted, a Bluetooth keyboard for my iPad Mini. He did a lot of research and picked out the ... Read More
