Internet Friend Birthday Gifts!

I really love the internet, one reason is because I have met some amazing people online. Jess from CraftingGeek sent me a birthday gift, she made me this awesome Yoshi cross stitch using water soluble canvas. She also sent me some fabric scraps for my hexagon quilt and some DMC color infusions threads. Seriously, how awesome is that? Well Jess's birthday was shortly after mine and I just sent her a very, very late birthday gift. I think I found Jess on Instagram because of her progress on the Legend of Zelda Dark World map cross stitch, and it only seemed ... Read More

Free Pattern Friday – New York City Skyline

I created this pattern for a Christmas gift so I can't show off what I did with it yet. However, it worked out really well and I thought some of you might have use for a NYC skyline cross stitch pattern. It's very simple and you could customize it and use any colors you'd like. You also don't need to stitch the entire space, I just did the outline and it worked out really well! The finished piece is less than 9" wide and 4" tall when done on 14ct Aida. Happy Unicorn Swap – What I Sent

My Happy Unicorn Swap partner got her package yesterday, so I can finally show it all off! I got my swap package earlier this week, and I was so excited to send this to my partner. I always love sending embroidery floss for swaps, I have such a fun time picking out a color pallet. For this one, a rainbow just seemed necessary because you really can't have unicorns without rainbows! I wracked my brain for what to send as the "unicorn item." The coordinator suggested sending something that was unique to your state or region and I just couldn't pick ... Read More

Book Review – Mollie Makes Patchwork

Mollie Makes has consistently produced extremely quality craft books and their newest patchwork book is as amazing as you would expect! Each project has a "patchwork story" telling where the designer came up with the project. These stories are in other Mollie Makes books as well, and I really love the personal touch it adds. One of the things I love best about the Mollie Makes series of books is how accessible they make them for any skill level. The book does such a great job providing a wide variety of different projects showcasing a huge selection of ... Read More

Happy Unicorn Swap – What I Got

I've been trying to limit the amount of swaps I sign up for, but every once in awhile I come across one I have to sign up for. On Saturday I got a package from Tiffany of Sew Long Sanity with this amazing mini unicorn quilt. I love the colors and there are so many incredible fabrics she used. I've never done paper piecing but it's on my list of new things I want to try next year. One of the swap requirements was to send a "unicorn item," something rare or hard to find. Tiffany sent me this Heather Ross fabric, it's amazing. However, I'm absolutely ... Read More

Happy Halloween!

Evie cycled through a lot of Halloween costume ideas and I wasn't going to let her change her mind anymore. But when she said she wanted to be R2D2, how could I say no to that? Plus, her Elsa dress that we got isn't really conducive to trick or treating in the Midwest. The high tomorrow is 43F, so the ability to layer under this hoodie will be necessary! Josh and I originally had grand plans to paint a bike helmet for her costume, but this hoodie from the Disney Store was perfect. I got some white pants from Old Navy and decided it needed a little something extra. I ... Read More

A Local Stationery Store – Broadway Paper

I went to college in Milwaukee and whenever we go up to visit there's a list of places we always stop, one of them is Broadway Paper. For my birthday weekend we went up to Milwaukee to see the Preservation Jazz Hall Band and of course stopped by Broadway Paper. I left empty handed, but I still took a lot of pictures, there's just so much gorgeous stuff! I love the walls of rainbow colored papers and envelopes. There's also tons of amazing printed papers. I am a sucker for any and all Pantone products and Broadway paper had a great selection. ... Read More

A Felt Tea Cup in Mollie Makes!

All the way back in July I mentioned a secret project that I wasn't able to talk about yet. Well, now I can finally reveal that I have a project in the December issue of the US edition of Mollie Makes! Unfortunately I just learned that the US edition won't be printed anymore, but I was so excited to have my project included! I made a felt embroidery hoop tea cup (which is kind of funny because my first ever magazine project was also a tea cup!) Apparently Target sells the US edition of Mollie Makes, but I checked three near me and none of them had it. ... Read More
